1950s milk glass white floral necklace
Sculptured glass petals and leaves combine with twinkling faceted crystals to give this necklace an abundance of charm.
All of the many bead shapes are made of milk glass, an opaque white glass originally made in Venice and Florence in the 1500s to simulate porcelain and popular in both the Victorian era and 1950s. The central flower with its sparkling crystal is flanked on both sides by two leaf clusters, each element being embellished with tiny flowers of beads and rhinestones and joined together with delicate goldtone wire. Round white milk glass beads with tiny spacers complete the necklace.
The J-hook closure enables the length to vary from about 36 cm to 42 cm. It is marked Made in Germany on the reverse which dates it to the 1950s.
