Art Deco CIRO pearl and crystal earrings
Elegant, feminine and very dainty, these beautiful screw-back earrings are by CIRO and date from around the 1930s.
In classic and elegant Art Deco style, they feature a tiny bow and ribbon of pave set crystals. A large and lustrous imitation pearl links to the bottom of the ribbon via an articulated little crystal cluster which allows the pearls to swing gently when worn.
They are stamped with the initials SCP, which stands for ‘Sterling Ciro Pearls’, indicating that these earrings are set in sterling silver.
The screw backs are secure and comfortable. The drop overall measures 3.2 cm of which the pearl is 1 cm.
Ciro was established in 1917 and earned a reputation for high-quality imitation jewellery and pearls. The brand started out selling fashion jewellery and cultured pearls, and with the launch of the imitation pearl in the 1920s CIRO became a much sought-after brand with the elegant flapper girls and early film stars. CIRO’s classic collections embodying timeless and ladylike glamour have featured on the pages of glossy magazines such as Tatler and Vogue.
