Edwardian white guilloche enamel cufflinks

This is an exceptional pair of Edwardian brass cufflinks from the early 1900s with sculptured faces of white guilloché enamel finished with tiny hand painted blue flowers and leaves in the centre. They have a sturdy pronged connector leading to a bean back retainer. The faces measure 19 mm x 12 mm.

Guilloché is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning. This can then be filled with a translucent enamel, or powdered glass, to give a layer of colour over the detailed engraving.
