Glittering mid-century crystal necklace by Eisenberg

This stunning statement necklace by the Eisenberg design house is the epitome of mid-century Hollywood glamour. It is designed with two rows of round and pear-shaped Swarovski crystals overlaid in places with little three-dimensional ‘ribbons’ set with pave icing accents. The brilliant, clear crystals are claw set in rhodium plated settings.

The unique clasp catches whichever stone you choose for length, which can vary from approximately 35 cm to 42 cm making it truly versatile. The clasp is signed “EISENBERG” in capital letters which dates the necklace from between 1945 and 1958.

Austrian immigrant Jonas Eisenberg founded Eisenberg & Sons in Chicago in 1914, producing couture clothing accessorised with ornate jewellery items. A standalone jewellery line was launched in the 1930s. Eisenberg’s uncompromising approach to craftsmanship set them apart, and they used only premium Austrian Swarovski crystals with a brilliant diamond-like sparkle

The Eisenberg brand was sold in the late 1970s and saw various ownership shifts before ceasing in the early 1990s. Today vintage Eisenberg pieces, especially those made during the 1930s to 1950s, are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
