Mid-century abalone shell and silver cufflinks

With gleaming shades of turquoise blues and greens, these abalone shell cufflinks will accessorize both a daytime casual look or formal evening wear with equal aplomb. The striking abalone pieces, each highlighting the complex patterns and iridescence of the shell, are set in sterling silver.

Each round face is connected to a lozenge shaped retainer with a six-link chain, giving eye-catching colour on both sides of the cuff. The rounds measure 14 mm across and the retainer is 22 mm long. The reverse is stamped as sterling silver.

Many of the 70 known species of the abalone sea snail have thick shells with an inner layer composed of nacre (or mother of pearl) which is highly iridescent, giving rise to a range of strong, shifting colours.
