Vintage platinum-toned textured choker by Trifari
A simple and elegant designer choker by Trifari that dates from the mid 20th Century. It has overlapping and articulated links fashioned in the brutalist style with a very modern look that makes it just as wearable now as the day it was made.
This choker is a high quality and extremely well made piece fashioned from platinum-toned “Trifanium”. It has a J clasp and 5 cm chain so that the wearing length can vary from 35 cm to 40 cm. The chain has a silver ball detail at the end and the iconic Trifari hang tag. The J clasp is stamped Trifari with a copyright symbol which was used by the company from 1955 to 1969.
Each of the links is 11 mm across and the whole piece is in fabulous condition with no signs of wear.
‘Trifanium’ is a shiny, non-tarnishing metal alloy patented by the Trifari company in 1947. The castings were filed, polished, and then plated with either gold or rhodium to produce either a “golden-toned Trifanium” or a “platinum-toned Trifanium”. Trifari first used the Trifarium alloy to create jewellery in 1948 and it was used in almost all of their pieces by 1951.
