Layered crystal brooch by Sherman
This is a glittering tiered and dimensional brooch by renowned jewellery maker Gustave Sherman of Montreal, Canada and dating from around the 1960s.
It has a lovely square geometric form that is echoed by four little rhinestone flowers that appear to float above the main body of the brooch with its large central round crystal and sprays of navette crystals.
The brooch is rhodium plated and all the Swarovski crystals are claw set. It measures 3.7 cm square, has a roll over clasp and is signed on the reverse. The navette crystals have mellowed very slightly with age which creates a gentle contrast with the bright sparkle of the smaller round crystals and enhances the dimensional structure of the piece.
