1950s Louis Rousselet pink floral swag necklace
This dainty and feminine French mid-Century swag necklace is a typical Louis Rousselet design from this era. The gossamer silver coloured chain has Rousselet’s signature ‘paper clip’ links while the glass beads are hand-made and of exceptional quality.
Each of the silvertone metal links at the front of the necklace, comprising little textured flower shapes, is accented with a tiny soft pink glass bead. A graduated glass bead in the same lovely shade of pink is suspended from each link. The cobweb-like illusion is finished with a diaphanous scrolled link with more pink beads on either side.
The necklace closes with a bolt ring clasp and measures just over 40 cm long.
Louis Rousselet was a French beadmaker and jewellery designer who founded the Rousselet Company in Paris in the 1920s. He became one of the outstanding beadmakers of the twentieth century, employing around 800 people producing handmade, polished lampwork beads, often with baroque shapes to emphasize their individuality and always of exceptional quality.Â
From 1920 to the early 1970s Louis Rousselet was one of France’s most revered jewellers. His designs were showcased by leading fashion houses including Coco Chanel, Jacques Fath and Pierre Balmain.
