Art Deco coral pink glass and brass bead necklace

A distinctive and feminine French necklace dating from the Art Deco era and highly evocative of the Egyptian revival influences at play. It is attributed to Louis Rousselet, one of the outstanding jewellery designers and glass bead makers of the twentieth century whose work today is much sought after.

The necklace features ribbed and tubular coral pink glass beads hand made to resemble natural coral with subtle shading and swirls in the glass. In the central section of the necklace the graduating ribbed beads and ‘pinched’ brass beads are strung on a chain. The sides of the necklace are made of the tubular beads linked together with pretty flower shaped brass spacers.

The necklace measures 40 cm long and closes with the maker’s distinctive screw-in beehive clasp marked “Made in France”.
