Art Deco era red mirror glass necklace
This necklace dates from the 1930s and is a lovely example of collectable Czechoslovakian mirror glass jewellery.
It features bright red four-leaf clover shapes of mirror glass that are claw set onto brass settings and suspended from a fine brass chain. The facets in the glass produce a glittering symphony of red hues.
The necklace measures just over 43 cm in length and fastens with a bolt ring clasp.
Glass was widely used in 1920s and 1930s pieces because it could be dyed in a vast array of colours to meet the need for affordable jewellery after the Great War and the Depression. Highly sought after mirror glass was commonly produced in Czechoslovakia during the Art Deco era and moulded into a variety of shapes with a silvered backing.
