Collectable 18ct gold filled vintage French cufflinks

A truly fine pair of early 20th Century 18ct gold filled cufflinks by the much admired Savard design house of Paris. Each beautifully etched face is set with a single faceted garnet and connects with a five-link chain to the rhombus retainers. The round faces measure 15 mm across and the retainers are 20 mm long.

The faces are stamped FIX on the reverse, a trademark registered in 1893 to identify Savard’s products. The “Fixe” process involved hot gold foil laminating in an unusually thick layer over brass to form high quality jewellery that would withstand long term wear and be easily mistaken for solid gold.
