About Crystal Heirlooms
Crystal Heirlooms is a rural cottage industry founded by neighbours Jean and Fran in 2012. We became close friends after discovering a mutual love of times gone by, especially the Edwardian and Art Deco eras. When Jean became engaged we spent many weeks together searching for the perfect bridal headdress for her big day in Sicily, but nothing really made her feel special or reflected her personality and style. She finally decided to make it herself from family heirloom jewellery. The inspiration for Crystal Heirlooms followed and our first collection was launched at the National Wedding Show in London in February 2013.
Over the years we’ve expanded our portfolio and now offer a range of beautiful vintage jewellery, original vintage accessories, Art Deco and vintage cufflinks and unique feathery capelets handcrafted with antique and vintage lace.
The 2020 coronavirus pandemic hit wedding world hard. Couples had to postpone or cancel their big day. Exhibitions and fairs were cancelled. Aspirations and plans changed. We had to change too, and in 2021 Crystal Heirlooms became online only with more focus on bespoke wedding and special occasion accessories and an ever-expanding collection of original vintage jewellery, cufflinks and more.
Jean is the creative talent in our partnership, designing and hand crafting all of our one-of-a-kind hair accessories and feathery capelets and working with you to create your bespoke design. She now lives in the Charente region of France, fulfilling her lifelong dream of restoring a mill house and creating a stunning garden. Her studio houses a treasure trove of exquisite vintage pieces ready to feature in your bespoke accessory.
Here in the Surrey Fran is dedicated to ensuring that you enjoy the whole experience of buying your headdress, jewellery and accessories from us and bringing you details of our constantly-changing collections.
We believe there is something unashamedly glamorous about vintage jewellery – the quality of the materials, the way the pieces were crafted, the designs, the sheer indulgence. And then you have the inevitable ageing of the pieces, which reminds you that you are holding a little piece of history in your hands. We often find ourselves asking ‘Who wore this in the past? What was he or she like? How did they live? There is an undeniable romance in every vintage piece, but there is also the compelling comfort of knowing that buying pre-loved vintage has no impact on our planet and it’s precious resources.
We’d love to hear from you
Can we tell you more about one of our necklaces or maybe a pair of cufflinks? Would you like to know about ordering a bespoke accessory? Do you have a treasured heirloom that you’d like to incorporate into a headdress? Are you unsure about buying vintage? We’d love to hear from you and help in any way we can.
